This brilliant watercolor captures the iconic architecture and dramatic light of the Greek islands with an expressive, abstracted style. The foreground is a geometric interplay of sun-drenched, angular, architectural forms rendered in a cubist reminiscent style. The arches, walls, and staircases of the island's buildings are depicted in washes of pale pink, ochre, deep blue and burnt sienna. These structures are punctuated by the landmark cobalt blue dome of a Greek Orthodox church, topped with a gold cross.
