This brilliant and expressive serigraph captures a dynamic view of a creek within a densely forested, impressionistic landscape by Spanish National Treasure, Joaquin Torrents-Llado, (1946 - 199). The water and foliage have palpable, almost rugged feel. The palette is dominated by deep, earthy greens and blues, suggesting a cool, shaded environment. The water surface is a swirl of vibrant turquoise and white, conveying a sense of churning movement and bright, sparkling reflection, contrasting with the dark, heavy shaded foliage surrounding it. A gnarled tree trunk and low-hanging branches anchor the left side, while the right foreground dissolves into the rough, abstract active gestural mark making. The entire piece has a sense of raw, atmospheric energy of wilderness.
