DON WARD

American, 1947

Don Ward, born in Tacoma, Washington in 1947, is an accomplished artist whose career has been dedicated to capturing the essence of beauty and truth in his work. After graduating with honors from the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles in 1973, he worked as a freelance illustrator and in outdoor pictorial advertising. In 1985, Ward relocated to Taos, New Mexico to pursue a career in fine art. He believes that art is an idea and that there are no rules, only choices. Through his interpretation of realism, whether depicting nature, people, or still-life subjects, Ward strives to express his unique perspective on beauty. His work can be found in galleries throughout the Southwest, and he has also taught portraiture and landscape painting classes. Ward finds inspiration in painting from life, capturing the excitement and essence of the moment. He brings the same quality and vitality to his larger studio pieces as he does to his plein-air works, aiming to create a visual experience that goes beyond mere representation.
