Artist Work Shop:
Linda St. Clair
Three Day Workshop
October 21st - 23rd, 9am - 4pm
Limited to 10 students
Austin Galleries is once again pleased to present the opportunity for art lovers to work with and learn from Linda St. Clair. This workshop will focus on creating paintings of animals that exhibit emotion. While working with value, color and brushwork, you will learn to determine what is essential and what to leave out. The artist will do a demo for students each day before they begin painting. All painting experience is welcome, from beginners to more advanced students. Artists are encouraged to bring their own photographs as a reference for their desired subjects.
Within the great tradition of painting, Linda St. Clair has set herself apart as an innovator who creates animal portraits that explore the personalities of creatures great and small. Whether her subjects are of the barnyard, domestic or wild variety, they are undeniably the product of an artist inspired by wildlife's vital energy and its broad emotional range. St. Clair's body of work is infused with a strong narrative sense, a clear articulation of mood and spirit, and an intricate knowledge of animal anatomy. Each painting is completed during a single, intense session out of her home studio in Santa Fe. To get a clearer perspective of an animal's spirit, St. Clair travels frequently to find and photograph her subjects. St. Clair's paintings are exhibited and collected throughout the nation and worldwide. She is a two-time recipient of the Grumbacher Gold Medal, a member of the Society of Animal Artists in New York, and most recently she has been given the North Star Award by The Heart of the West Art Show and Auction.
