Gustave Asselbergs

The collages of Gustave Asselbergs provide the viewer with a powerful representation of his own life and the 1960's. From this period, his work evokes energy and innovation by creating thought provoking images. Asselbergs would use posters, newspapers and magazines that were contemporary to the time to add to his work. He called the newspaper "the bible for one day". With Asselberg's failing heath and the knowledge that he would die young, his work is not light hearted but full of deep meaning that is meant to be contemplated.
